Azadeh Alimadad

Azadeh Alimadad

Ms. Alimadad completed her B.Sc. in Mathematics in Iran and holds an M.Sc. in Biostatistics from Carleton University. She has started Ph.D. studies in health modelling at SFU. She is interested in applying epidemiological compartmental models to problems both in epidemiology and other fields.

Afsaneh Bakhtiari

Afsaneh Bakhtiari

Ms. Bakhtiari holds a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Iran. She is a M.Sc. candidate in Mathematics at SFU. She has experience in developing queueing theory models and is working on the Surgical Wait List Project.

Pouya Bastani

Pouya Bastani

Mr. Bastani is an M.Sc. candidate in Applied Mathematics at SFU. He is interested in using partial differential equation techniques to study queueing networks in the diffusion limit. He is working on the Acute Care Project.

Vahid Dabbaghian-Abdoly

Vahid Dabbaghian

Dr. Vahid Dabbaghian received his Ph.D. from Carleton University in Computational Algebra. His research interests include Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling. Prior to joining the CSMG he held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Calgary and SFU. In 2005, he joined the CSMG as a project leader for the Criminal Justice Systems projects. He has lead many successful projects in modelling, one of which is featured in the book Artificial Crime Analysis Systems: Using Computer Simulations and Geographic Information Systems.

Ellen Fowler

Ellen Fowler

Ms. Fowler holds an M.Sc. in Operations Research from the University of British Columbia and a B.Sc. in Economics from SFU. In addition to her research position at the IRMACS Centre, she is a lecturer at the Business Schools of both alma maters and acts as an OR consultant. Her main interests lie in mathematical programming and optimization. She is presently exploring a venture to commercialize a mathematical model to optimize the trading of natural gas to and from restricted storage facilities.

Warren Hare

Warren Hare

Dr. Hare received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Optimization from SFU. Following this he has been a post-doctorial fellow at IMPA - Brazil and at McMaster University. He returned to SFU to join the CSMG team. His research focuses on Modelling and Optimization with Applications to Healthcare. In addition to working with the CSMG, he is also the Program Director of the The Modelling of Complex Social Systems (MoCSSy) Research and Training Program.

Kenny Kew

Kenny Kew

Mr. Kew received a B.Sc. in Mathematics from SFU in June 2008. He has helped the CSMG on various projects, including a literature review of mathematical methods to assist in Operating Room Scheduling.

Jenny Li

Jenny Li

Ms. Li is a M.Sc. candidate in Applied Math at SFU. Her main interests are in queueing theory and its applications. She has worked on both the Surgical Wait List Project and the Acute Care Project.

Natasha Richardson

Natasha Richardson

Ms. Richardson is a B.Sc. student in Mathematics at SFU. She is involved extensively with the Criminal Justice System Project at the CSMG. She has experience in developing both system dynamics and cellular automata models.

Ying Wang

Ying Wang

Ying Wang is a 4th year undergraduate student majoring in Industrial Mathematics. She spent the summer of 2008 working with the CSMG on examining how Derivative Free Optimization can assist in Parameter Tuning for Complex Social System Models.

Tim

Tiankuang(Tim) Wu

Mr. Wu was working as a research assistant on the CSMG’s Criminal Systems project while completing his M.Sc. in Mathematics at SFU. He completed a B.A. in Economics in Finance from China and a B.Sc. in Statistics from SFU. His research interests include renormalization group analysis of critical phenomena, statistical learning, and mathematical modelling in finance.

Jia Xu

Jia Xu

Mr. Jia Xu completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics in China and now he is a M.Sc. student in Statistics at Simon Fraser University. He joined CSMG in Dec 2008. His research interest is Mathematical Statistics.
